DARKOVIKA, also known as Monica Prunier, offers skills on guitar, violin, cello, and piano, along with a sultry female voice. Her collaboration with indie punk duo BATE (Brett-Bit and Nate Filichia) is a perfect synthesis of lucid melancholia and fiery passion. 'Split Debate' was developed from the concept of rewriting "Hey Yogscast," Darkovika’s debut single. This concept expanded into the current album. This release is a spirited blend of punk rock, garage pop, and alternative. The chord progressions are complex yet easy to follow, making a dynamic musical structure. Although many of the songs touch on delicate subject matter such as loss and heartbreak, the vibe remains energetic and hopeful.
Darkovika and the members of Bate are longtime friends. Their personal and musical connection is apparent, as their artistic collaboration has a dynamic chemistry. Bittersweet and earthy, Darkovika’s music pairs well with the indie punk attitude of Bate. These complimentary styles converge into a cohesive album, defined by sonorous timbers with gravelly undertones. Every chord stroke and inflection is colored by sorrowful ennui with a rowdy, rebellious edge. The harmonized vocals and upbeat percussion lift up the brooding melodies. Smooth cadences and arpeggios add complexity to the folksy, acoustic nature of the music. The overall sound is elegantly simple and rustic.
Darkovika is talented with several skills in an impressive assortment of fields. In addition to her musical talents, she is also a successful Youtuber with a popular gaming channel, 'Darkovika Gaming'. Her videos include gameplay livestreams, tutorials, and vlogs. Offering witty commentary on a variety of pop culture niches, her Youtube channel is lively and engaging. Similarly, her music has a unique, sprightly quality. Clever and humorous, her creations are addictively entertaining. Darkovika’s charming personality shines through her art.
